Mila
BIOGRAPHY
1955
Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, into a family of artists: of architect parents and grandparents sculptors, painters, poets and writers. Thus, Mila was introduced to drawing, sculpture and painting at a very young age.
1970-1971
In high school, she illustrated a health magazine.
1973-1982
Mila attends drawing and painting lessons and, as a free auditor, courses in life model drawing at the Sofia School of Fine Arts and at the Bulgarian Artists' Society.
1974-1976
Mila studied advertising and decoration in Sofia. At the same time, she carried out a wide variety of advertising projects as a collaborator at the national advertising agency Bulgarreklama, and created fabric decorations for the CNMM fashion house.
1976-1978
She works as a decorator in the network of galleries, showrooms and shops of the Society of Bulgarian Artists, where she is responsible for hanging. It is then that she has the revelation of the beauty of icons.
1978-1984
She collaborates with two cultural centres on a wide variety of activities: design, scenography, costume design, curation of exhibitions and painting competitions, advertising and posters.
1980
Passionate about the art of the icon, she passed the competition to become a member of the Restoration and Iconography Atelier of the Society of Bulgarian Artists. This is where his career as a professional iconographer began.
2003-2010
She teaches iconography, pastel, watercolour and oil painting in Sofia.
2004
She visited Provence and, seduced by the beauty of its sites and nature, she undertook a series of radiant landscapes.
2009
Having met a group of artists in La Courneuve who, seduced by the vigour of his art, offered him to exhibit in their gallery. So Mila decided to come and settle permanently in France.
Since 2011
She regularly participates in the major parisian art exhibitions.
2012
Mila is invited to become a member of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts.
2015
She settled in Sèvres after living in Paris for a while.
2016
Mila joined the Independent Artists of Ville-d'Avray, shared their studio and participated in their activities.
2017
Mila became a member of the Société Versaillaise des Artistes d'Ile-de-France and the Amis des Arts de Chaville, of which she became a member of the board of directors in 2019.
2018
A great tribute was paid to her at the Hôtel de Ville de Sèvres by its mayor and the art historian Yann le Pichon.
Mila became a member of the association Les Peintres du Marais, and since then has exhibited regularly in their Atelier-Galérie, and participates in collective events.
2021
She joined the associations CréArt and Forum Sévrien, where she teachs painting and drawing.
2023
Mila becomes a member of the Taylor Foundation.
She is a founding member of the association Peintres-Sculpteurs-Photographes Paris Centre.
